I think I'm still recovering from New Year's Eve. We had this incredible dinner party with gobs of champagne and good food and friends.

As so many of us do this time of year, I've resolved to get back on schedule with my exercise. It takes extra motivation to handle working out in the cold. This issue will attempt to bring it to you, with a little humor mixed in.

We'll also point you to some basics of winter hair care--winter is, after all, the crappiest season for all types of hair. It's dry out, yet hats tend to weigh your hair down to the point where it's totally limp.

Finally, If you're contemplating a change in your relationship status, we've included a link to a fun little evaluation tool. It's fun for a laugh, but I'd only use it for that. When I plugged my name in with my honey's, it said our chances weren't very good. But when I plugged in our formal names, it said we were an excellent match. Go figure.

Set Realistic, Healthy Goals

Fortunately, most of us are getting through our heads the idea that we can't all look like supermodels, and we shouldn't want to try. Experts have calculated healthy RANGES of weights for women. I've found one calculator that is very complete-you set several variables, including detailed choices such as what kinds of food you want to eat, and how active you are. It even offers suggestions for exercise, tells you how many calories you should consume, and calculates your body fat ratio. www.dietitian.com

Keep Track of your Goals:
This may be as simple as buying a notebook or journal to write down your weekly and monthly goals. Check in with it often. Write down your successes and failures, emphasizing the positive things that happen on your way to being more fit. Women.com has an online feature for members that lets you track your progress online. my.women.com

It's winter... my windshield is frozen, my doors won’t open and my hair is flying every which way it can. I knew that it was bound to happen: the forces of static electricity finding comfort in my hair. It never fails, whether you are pulling on a sweater or your coat and worst yet a hat, your hair will act as if it has a mind of its own. For as long as I can remember, my mother Click To Enlarge has been a faithful believer in static guard, always having a can in close range. Something she always told me to do was spray a little Static Guard on my hairbrush and it will help with the flyaways! Well, as odd and unpleasant as that sounds, it works. However, Static Guard is not the best answer for treating your hair for static, it's gross for one to put it on your hair--even though I have done it--since it makes it dirty. We all know that there are plenty of techniques and products that will help winterize your locks... the only problem is finding which ones actually work for you. There is a world of products that will cut down on the problems that Old Man Winter brings to your hair, so to help give you an idea check out this article from beautynet.com on winter-proofing your hair. So, toss the can of Static Guard and get ready to do some shampooing, conditioning and masquing....

Winter Proof your hair

Click To Enlarge Have you ever noticed that some things just seem to naturally go hand in hand, like graham crackers and milk, peanut butter and jelly, bread and butter, etc. Wouldn't you like to know if you and your beau were meant to be? The Love Calculator can tell you just that. I'm not sure how much stock I would put in the results, but it's kind of fun anyway.
